The head of the Potato Growers’ Union reported a price increase of 11% to 25% for urea, potassium, and ammonium phosphate fertilizers over the past four days. Hassan Mohammadi stated in an interview with Mehr that the prices of these three types of chemical fertilizers have risen significantly in the market. He expressed strong criticism of this issue, emphasizing that the price increase does not align with inflation rates and contradicts the government’s slogans and programs. The representative of farmers from Kurdistan province in the central council of the Farmers’ House added that, in recent days, the price of urea fertilizer has increased from 35,000 to 38,500 tomans, and the price of ammonium phosphate has risen from about 60,000 tomans to 75,000 tomans, while potassium prices have also increased by 15%. Mohammadi noted that these three fertilizers are commonly used among farmers and urged the government to incorporate these price increases into guaranteed prices. He also pointed out that producers in this province have delivered 650,000 tons of wheat to the government without receiving any payment, stating that while the government has not yet paid the farmers, it is raising the prices of inputs, which is not a correct action.
